POEM

  • Begin your application early.
  • Submit you draft application to POEMadmin@lhsc.on.ca by the designated deadline. POEM will coordinate a peer-review of your application.
  • Have your application pre-reviewed by a colleague and someone outside your division/research field.
  • Read and follow the guidelines outlined on the AMOSO website. Contact POEMadmin@lhsc.on.ca for the Username and Password for the AMOSO website.
  • Use the application forms provided by AMOSO.
  • Use the headings provided in the application form to explain your project details.
  • Use plain, simplified language/avoid technical language. Remember, AMOSO reviewers will likely be from outside your research field.
  • Do not exceed the maximum page/character limits.
  • Recommended font is Times New Roman, size 12 and normal margins (1").
  • If attaching appendices, make sure their use is clearly summarized in the project details. You want to make the application flow and not be cumbersome to read for the reviewer.
  • Do not cut and paste from another grant application.
  • Letters of support are highly recommended. Make sure they are not "cookie-cutter" form letters, but speak to the validity of the project and PI.
  • Make sure your budget is feasible and supports your project.
  • If your application is not selected and you are resubmitting for the next round, incorporate the suggestions from the AMOSO peer-review committee into your re-submission. Do not just resubmit without any revisions.
