- Begin your application early.
- Submit you draft application to POEMadmin@lhsc.on.ca by the designated deadline. POEM will coordinate a peer-review of your application.
- Have your application pre-reviewed by a colleague and someone outside your division/research field.
- Read and follow the guidelines outlined on the AMOSO website. Contact POEMadmin@lhsc.on.ca for the Username and Password for the AMOSO website.
- Use the application forms provided by AMOSO.
- Use the headings provided in the application form to explain your project details.
- Use plain, simplified language/avoid technical language. Remember, AMOSO reviewers will likely be from outside your research field.
- Do not exceed the maximum page/character limits.
- Recommended font is Times New Roman, size 12 and normal margins (1").
- If attaching appendices, make sure their use is clearly summarized in the project details. You want to make the application flow and not be cumbersome to read for the reviewer.
- Do not cut and paste from another grant application.
- Letters of support are highly recommended. Make sure they are not "cookie-cutter" form letters, but speak to the validity of the project and PI.
- Make sure your budget is feasible and supports your project.
- If your application is not selected and you are resubmitting for the next round, incorporate the suggestions from the AMOSO peer-review committee into your re-submission. Do not just resubmit without any revisions.
