Physicians Services Incorporated (PSI) Foundation

Established in 1970 by the physicians of Ontario, PSI Foundation grants aim to improve the health of Ontario residents by focusing on education of practicing physicians and health research with an emphasis on patient care.

PSI Health Research Grant
  • No deadlines - submit application anytime
    • Notice of decision within 6 months of applying
  • Eligible types of Research:
    • Clinical Research
    • Medical Education Research at the post MD level
    • Health Systems Research
  • Eligible Principal Investigators:
    • CPSO licensed MD with an academic appointment
    • OR
    • Fellow who is a CPSO licensed MD and who has a supervising Co-PI (CPSO licensed MD with an academic apt.) for the research project. A letter of support must be included from the supervising Co-PI.
  • Applications are weighed equally on scientific merit and clinical relevance
  • All things equal, priority will be given to new investigators
  • Up to $250,000 for a maximum of three years (maximum $100,000 in any one year)
  • Study must begin within six months of notification
  • All applications must include an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) discussion
  • PSI is open to considering co-funding opportunities

PSI New Investigator Grant
  • No deadlines - submit application anytime
    • Notice of decision within 6 months of applying
  • Eligible types of Research (in priority order):
    • Clinical Research
    • Medical Education Research (post MD level)
    • Health Systems Research
  • Eligible Principal Investigators:
    • CPSO licensed MD within 5 years of first academic appointment
    • OR
    • Fellow who is a CPSO licensed MD and who has a supervising Co-PI (CPSO licensed MD with an academic apt.) for the research project. A letter of support must be included from the supervising Co-PI.
  • Applications are weighed equally on scientific merit and clinical relevance
  • Up to $300,000 for a maximum of three years (maximum $100,000 in any one year).
  • Study must begin within six months of notification
  • All applications must include an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) discussion
  • PSI is open to considering co-funding opportunities
Important to Note: PSI Health Research and New Investigator grants focus on lesser funded studies, so PSI will not consider applications that focus on problems associated with cancer, heart & stroke, or pharmaceutical drug development studies.
