ORCID – Open Researcher and Contributor ID
Connecting Research and Researchers

ORCID provides a persistent digital identifier (an ORCID ID) that you own and control, and that distinguishes you from every other researcher (i.e. with similar names). You can connect your ID with your professional information — affiliations, grants, publications, peer review, and more. You can use your ID to share your information with other systems, ensuring you get recognition for all your contributions, saving you time and hassle, and reducing the risk of errors. For example, you can sync your ORCID with your Web of Science Research Profile, the database POEM uses for publication metrics for the annual peer-review evaluation and the DOM scorecard.

For information on all the benefits of ORCID and how to get started, please visit the Western Libraries webpage: https://www.lib.uwo.ca/scholarship/orcid.html.
